Rust is fact
of life and if left unattended will turn steel first to
Swiss
cheese and finally to dust. Rust is the direct result of
oxygen and moisture turning the iron in steel back to
iron oxide as it first came from the earth. The only way
to halt or prevent this process is to encapsulate the
steel (or previously rusted surface) and prevent oxygen
and moisture from contact with the surface.
Traditional coatings are not
up to this task because over time, their films are
porous and tend to crack due to expansion and
contraction allowing moisture to get back at the steel.
CHASSIS SAVER™ is
unlike any traditional coating you have ever seen. It is
completely non-porous and so flexible that you can coat
a thin piece of steel and fold it back on itself making
a crease like a sheet of paper without any cracking. At
the same time, Chassis Saver is so hard you can easily
mistake it's surface for that of a baked enamel or a
powder coating. It is precisely this
combination of extreme flexibility and hardness
that allows Chassis Saver to Permanently Stop Rust
when all other coatings have failed. On the underside of
a vehicle pounded by sand, stones and gravel or an offshore
oil platform whipped and pounded by wind and waves,
Chassis Saver is the toughest paint you've ever seen. |

Stopping rust on a frame,
floorboards, jeep tub or in a truck bed is simple. Chassis Saver sticks
best to rough surfaces. This is the reason that rust does not require
complete removal before coating with Chassis Saver.
A simple wire brush and a hand
scraper is all that's needed. Just remove any loose or bubbling paint
and all loose, powdering rust and scale. Scuff sand the surrounding
painted areas using 120 to180 grit paper and wipe clean. Apply Chassis
Saver by brush or spray. Chassis Saver flows and levels so well that
careful brushing can look sprayed.
If the old remaining paint is
questionable in any way it is best to remove it first by sandblasting,
paint remover or by grinding. Any clean, smooth bare steel must be
roughened with 60 grit paper before coating with Chassis Saver. Never bead blast or use
any blast media that is not coarse enough to remove metal and leave a
profile or the surface will be too smooth for good adhesion. |

What’s correct for
your application?
UCP99 Gloss
Black – As a primer or finish coat, Chassis Saver
has become the industry standard for high performance
protection on all truck and auto underbody surfaces
including frames, floorboards, under fenders, engine
compartments, trunk areas, fire walls, etc. The #1
choice for fleet maintenance at hundreds of public works
facilities, DOT maintenance shops, truck and fleet
refinishing shops nationwide. Extensively used on snow
and ice removal equipment saving thousands of dollars in
costly repairs.
UCP934
Silver-Aluminum – Used as a primer under any
colored industrial or automotive grade enamel topcoat or
under Chassis Saver gloss
or antique-satin black. Heavily filled with over two
pounds per gallon of flake aluminum to help smooth and
fill pits and deeper rust damage. Interleaving flake
creates an incredibly dense barrier to prevent moisture
permeation. Commonly used for marine barge and oil field
maintenance. Great for industrial equipment, metal roofs, steel truck rims and
to rejuvenate tired, rusted old chain link fence.
UCP970
Antique-Satin Black – Used for factory original
restorations on all underbody and engine compartment
surfaces. Cures to a silky smooth sheen. Use
silver-aluminum as a base coat/primer.
UCP98 Floor
& Machine Light Gray – The ultimate machinery
refinish coating and for heavy duty protection of
interior concrete. Floors can be coated with surface
temps as low as 38 degrees F. |

Application Note: While
Chassis Saver has incredible rust and corrosion resistance and can be
used for all underbody applications without top coating, it is sensitive
to UV light (sun) and its initial appearance will change over time. Its
“RUST STOPPING” properties and corrosion resistance will never degrade
but its color will shift from black to charcoal gray. Silver-aluminum
remains very close to it’s original appearance. If aesthetics are
important, Chassis Saver can and should be top coated with a quality
industrial or automotive finish. Any opaque finish is effective. Clear
coating is not recommended as protection. Suitable topcoats include any
MAGNET PAINTS Finishing System including 4800 Series Synthetic Urethane
Enamels, MAGNACRYL™ 9000 Series Acrylic Enamels or MAGNATRON™ 5000
Series Acrylic Polyurethane Enamels. Call customer service or ask your
local distributor for more information. |
